Why is bottled water so important?
One of the greatest concerns throughout
the world is the lack of fresh drinking
water. Although most of our planet is
made up of water, only roughly 3% is
fresh water; and only about 1% of that
water is drinkable. The world’s
ever-growing population – currently at
80 million people per year – demands
that we find alternative ways to produce
more drinking water. With pollution
destroying our existing fresh water
supply at an alarming rate, the need for
sources of fresh drinking water is more
important than ever.
We at Koyo USA Corp. are working
hard to help toward this goal. Our
MaHaLo Hawaii Deep Sea® Water is
pumped from 3,000 feet below the
ocean’s surface, filtered and
purified to remove most of the
sodium, and bottled for drinking at
our adjacent bottling plant. Using
water from our plentiful oceans, we
are not depleting the earth’s
existing fresh water sources.

How is MaHaLo Hawaii Deep Sea®
Water different from other bottled
waters?
Very often, bottled water
is simply filtered tap water, or water
from wells in municipal areas. Even
most modern desalination plants use only
surface sea water. Our water is taken
from the deep sea currents, at depths
which are protected from the
contaminants that remain in surface
water, such as those caused by acid
rain, runoff from farming, industry,
fertilizers, chemicals, etc., and
contain no harmful additives such as
chlorine or fluoride.
Why choose bottled water over municipal
“tap” water?
Most municipal water from
your tap contains chlorine, which is
used to kill bacteria and germs in
drinking water. This additive is not
only unhealthy for your body, but very
often has an unpleasant taste and/or
smell. Also, many municipal water
sources add fluoride to drinking water,
an issue which is still being debated as
to its merits.
Why do you say your water is 2,000 years
old? How do you get this information?
According to global
density-driven circulation studies, it can
take between 1,200 and 2,000 years for
movement of the deep water masses to
complete their cycle from the equatorial
Atlantic Ocean, cooling and eventually
sinking at high latitudes in the North
Atlantic, then flowing down into deep water
basins and resurfacing in the northeast
Pacific Ocean. This path of the deep sea
water’s currents is often referred to as the
“global conveyor belt.”
How is it purified?
Our purification method uses
a state of the art system to separate the
salt and minerals from the water and then
balance the water appropriately. Many
brands of bottled water are over purified or
distilled, which results in many important
minerals being reduced or completely
eradicated in the purification process. Our
water is rich in essential minerals like
calcium, magnesium and potassium.
Where is it bottled?
To ensure the purity of our
product, our water is bottled at our own
bottling facility, which is adjacent to our
filtration plant in Kona, on the Big Island
of Hawaii.
